Some of the very first cyanotype prints from the mid 1800s were of plants laid on paper coated with cyanotype emulsion and exposed to the sun, leaving the perfect shapes of leaves, stems and flowers for the journals of naturalists exploring the Western U.S.

 

This 2-part "photogram" is of the native coastal grasses from one of our favorite Mendo Coast trails through the Caspar Headlands, between the towns of Mendocino and Fort Bragg.
